Andrew Farber

Andrew Farber has been practicing law for over 30 years, focusing on entertainment, corporate and intellectual property matters in connection with theatre, film, television, music, new media and publishing.

His clients include Broadway and Off-Broadway producers, authors, directors, independent film producers, financiers, recording companies and major institutional theaters.  He is currently production counsel for the Broadway musical Paradise Square, running at the Barrymore Theatre, and counsel to Playwrights Horizons, whose production of A Strange Loop is running on Broadway at the Lyceum Theatre.  He also serves as production counsel on the independent feature film The Nana Project and the documentaries Syrian Dream and Black Snow (currently in production).  Other clients include the American Utopia Band, FilmNation Entertainment, Yellow Sound Label and Soho Rep.

Andrew started his career as Associate Director of the multi-award winning Second Stage Theatre in New York City during its formative years.  After graduation from law school, Andrew spent 4 years as an associate at the international firm of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe LLP, specializing in corporate finance.  Subsequently, he was Executive Director of The Dramatists Guild, the national association of playwrights, composers and lyricists.  For 5 years he served as Vice President, Business Affairs of Livent Inc., where he was production counsel for the Broadway productions of Kiss of the Spiderwoman, Show Boat, Ragtime, Parade, Fosse, Barrymore, Candide and counsel for the development of Seussical The Musical and Sweet Smell of Success.  Prior to opening Farber Law in 2010, Andrew was Of Counsel to the entertainment law firm Lazarus & Harris LLP for three years.  He was a co-producer of the Broadway musical Cry-Baby (nominated for 4 Tony Awards including best musical of 2008) and the West End production of On An Average Day starring Woody Harrelson.

Andrew was an adjunct member of the faculty of his undergraduate college, NYU-Tisch School of the Arts and has guest lectured at Columbia University, Yale University, University of Iowa and UCLA.  He received a B.F.A. in drama with honors from NYU (Founders Day Award for outstanding academic achievement) and a J.D., magna cum laude, from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law at Yeshiva University.
