Ru Hochen

Ru is an Associate Attorney at Romano Law, where she focuses on transactional matters in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property, and she assists with commercial litigation and business reorganization.

Ru began her journey with Romano Law as a Spring Extern in 2022, returned as a Graduate Law Clerk following law school.  Ru is admitted to practice in New York State, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Eastern District of New York.

A cum laude graduate of Brooklyn Law School, Ru earned a Certificate in Intellectual Property, Media, and Information Law.  During law school, she served as Executive Articles Editor of the Brooklyn Journal of Corporate, Financial & Commercial Law and as Vice President of Pro Bono and Public Relations for the Asian-Pacific American Law Students Association.

Ru’s professional interests lie at the intersection of technology, privacy, and the law.  She holds a CIPP/US certification in U.S. privacy law and is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) as well as a former member of the Technology, Cyber, and Privacy Law Committee of the New York City Bar Association.  Her prior experience includes work with the Brooklyn Law Incubator & Policy Clinic and the City government’s IT department, where she focused on technology and data privacy issues.

Before entering the legal field, Ru worked in sportscasting and film subtitle translation, bringing a unique cross-cultural and communications background to her legal practice.  She holds a B.A. in Foreign Languages and Literatures from National Taiwan University, and is fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese, which allows her to provide legal services to a variety of communities.

In her free time, Ru enjoys jogging, traveling, and watching volleyball and European football.
