Extern Program

Frequently Asked Questions

We are passionate about working with bright, enthusiastic and team-oriented future lawyers.  For over 15 years externs at Romano Law have received hands-on legal experience for course credit.

Law school students that are eligible for internship course-credit may apply.  Selected applicants work directly with our legal and client teams, participate in client matters and gain real-world “behind the scenes” experience at a law firm.

Where is the location of the externship?

Our main office is located in One Battery Park Plaza, New York.  However, Romano Law offers course-credit externship opportunities to students across the country.

Those located close to our main office are encouraged to join our team on-site while externs outside New York may work remotely.

What type of work will I be doing?

As a legal extern, you would have the opportunity to review and revise contracts, conduct legal research and drafting, as well as research and write articles on legal topics.

As a marketing and business development extern, you would have the opportunity to assist in executing firm’s social media strategy, participate in client onboarding and observe all areas of law firm operations.

We provide a monthly seminar for current and prospective law students interested in learning more about a career in the legal profession.

Extern Mentoring

At Romano Law, our externship program offers a unique mentorship experience for participants.

Each extern is paired with both a senior and junior mentor, typically within their field of interest. Externs typically meet weekly with their senior mentor or arrange meetings at a time of their choosing to discuss their academic requirements, receive feedback on their work, and address any queries they may have. This one-on-one interaction is tailored to suit the specific goals and aspirations of each extern, ensuring a personalized learning experience.

Additionally, externs have access to junior mentors who help with administrative tasks and offer support whenever needed. Whether it’s troubleshooting issues or seeking additional guidance, our junior mentors are here to help facilitate a smooth and enriching externship journey. In addition to being paired with senior and junior mentors, externs have the opportunity to tap into the expertise of our entire team of attorneys.

Our attorneys are readily available and eager to provide feedback, answer questions, and offer guidance throughout the externship experience. This collaborative environment ensures that externs receive comprehensive mentorship and exposure to diverse perspectives within the legal field, enriching their learning journey and preparing them for future endeavors.

We have a monthly seminar for law and prospective law students. In the seminar, attendees will have the opportunity to meet virtually with junior and senior attorneys at Romano Law and discuss topics ranging from different practice areas to their experiences during their legal journey.

Our next seminar will be held on October 16, 2024 at 3 pm (EST).
