Curtis Fuller is an Associate Attorney, admitted to both the Texas and New York State Bars. Named a Super Lawyers 2025 Rising Star New York Metro and finalist for the Texas Legal Awards’ “Most Promising Newcomer,” Curtis combines deep legal expertise with a relationship-centered approach to empower creative professionals, small businesses, and nonprofits.
His diverse practice encompasses intellectual property law, entertainment law, nonprofit formations, alternative dispute resolution, and litigation. Curtis focuses on art law and contract design that prioritizes clarity and growth over restrictions, helping artists and culture makers navigate complex legal landscapes while protecting their creative vision.
Curtis has successfully resolved high-value disputes involving everything from antiques to multi-publisher contract disputes. His practice includes defending artists against wrongful IP claims, structuring equity compensation for creative businesses, and providing general counsel to authors, choreographers, and visual artists. He is adept in procuring expedited nonprofit formations and 501(c)(3) determinations and developing comprehensive governance frameworks for cultural organizations.
Curtis previously maintained a private practice in Austin, TX, where he provided pro bono counsel as a member of Texas Accountants & Lawyers for the Arts, advising creative professionals and entrepreneurs on IP and business strategies. He currently serves as pro bono general counsel to The Dance Project ATX, a collaborative nonprofit that empowers dancers and choreographers in Austin, Texas through performance opportunities and community showcases. His insights on trademark law have been featured in Trademark Lawyer Magazine.
He holds a Master of Laws in Business Law from The University of Texas School of Law and a Juris Doctor with a certificate in Intellectual Property from the University of Nebraska College of Law. Curtis is a member of The Order of Barristers, was a recognized leader throughout his educational career, and is a member of the Texas Bar College. His research interests include copyright protection for generative art, geographical indications, and cultural property. Before becoming a lawyer, Curtis worked in wine, chocolate, and confectionery—industries that sparked lasting interests in quality and authenticity.
Curtis moved to New York City for its vibrant visual and performing arts scenes. When not advocating for his clients, he enjoys musical theater, wine, and spending time with friends and family (not necessarily in that order). Curtis is the proud pet parent of a rescue dog named Patti, who benefits from countless walks through Central Park.
