Domenic Romano

Domenic is a lawyer-preneur.  He is on a mission to abolish the billable hour.    

He is an experienced Business and Entertainment Attorney. His practice covers Corporate, Employment, Media and Sports Law.  He advises clients on Structuring, Purchase & Sale of Businesses, Business Divorce, Litigation, Arbitration, Mediation, Employment Disputes, Licensing, and Complex Contract Negotiation.  

Domenic is dedicated to project rates and favors flat-rate monthly pricing for legal services, including litigation.

He is also passionate about demystifying the law.  He is an adjunct professor at Columbia Film School.  He teaches Entertainment Law for Filmmakers, a graduate MFA course for producers, directors and screenwriters at Columbia University.  

Domenic has been a legal commentator on NBC, CBS, CNN, CNBC, Yahoo Finance, Sky, FOX Business News, NewsNation and Bloomberg TV.  He has also been quoted in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Independent, TIME, Entertainment Weekly or Adweek.  

Domenic is Martindale-Hubbell AV Preeminent rated by his peers. The ranking is given for the highest level of professional excellence in legal expertise, communication skills and ethical standards.  He has also been named to the New York Metro Super Lawyers every year, since 2015, and has been on their Top 100 list since 2022.  

Before starting Romano Law PLLC in 2003, Domenic was a Corporate Lawyer at Jones Day; Hahn & Hessen LLP (now Thompson Coburn); Brown Raysman Millstein Felder & Steiner LLP (subsequently Thelen LLP); and in-house legal counsel at a biotech firm, Pasteur Merieux Connaught in Toronto (now Sanofi Canada).  

Domenic is an active member of EO Next (U.S. Central Bridge Chapter) of Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO).  He was on the Board for six years and is the former President of the New York Chapter of EO, the world’s largest community of business owners.  He is the Founder of the international EO Lawyers Group, a graduate of the EO Executive Education program at Harvard Business School, and the EO Entrepreneurial Masters Program (EMP), hosted at MIT.  

Dedicated to professional development, he is currently enrolled in the iPEC Executive Coaching program.  iPEC is an accredited coach training program recognized by the International Coaching Federation (ICF).  

He is a member of the New York City Bar Association and the Brooklyn Bar Association. Domenic is the Founding Member of the Managing Partners Group, the Business Lawyers Group and the Entertainment Lawyers Group in New York City, each a diverse network of seasoned attorneys.  

Domenic is a member of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (TV Academy) and an Emmy voter. He enjoys participating in TV academy events during this “platinum age of television”. He’s convinced that The Sopranos, The Wire, Mad Men, Breaking Bad and White Lotus are some of the best series ever made.  

Domenic’s first language is Italian.  He was born and raised in Canada, but his parents were both born in Italy.  He is tri-lingual (English, Italian and French). He has completed 8 marathons (including New York, San Francisco, Chicago, Toronto, Vermont and Rome) and over 30 half-marathons. Domenic is a history buff who regularly enjoys a good laugh, but he takes his pizza seriously (“no pineapple, please”).
